We are located rurally, which affords us a spectacular 180 degree panoramic view of Kachemak Bay.
The Inn and all of its furnishing are custom built to give your lodging and stay a distinctly Alaskan flavor.
We are minutes away from all of the action, whether fishing, hiking, kayaking, bear viewing, or anything else.
After two decades in this business, I am happy to help guide you to the best of whatever activities you wish.
Breakfast is made to order and availble from 5AM to 9AM, giving you a head start to whatever adventure awaits you!
Where else can you see five glaciers from your room?
I invite you to relax, unwind, and enjoy the intimate, panoramic views of Kachemak Bay and our glacier-filled Kenai Mountains. Come and listen to the quiet crackling of our campfire and let our natural beauty soothe and rejuvenate your soul: watch resident moose and their calves meandering close by in the early mornings and throughout our long sunset-filled evenings. Behold our majestic mountains and glaciers as our extended sunsets paint them with ever-changing hues.
See eagles soaring overhead as sandhill cranes and other migratory birds land in our meadows from spring through fall. Find out why Alaskans call Homer the “Jewel of Alaska” and how we’ve earned the title, “the Halibut Fishing Capitol of the World.” Our peaceful, rural location across the bay from bonny Kachemak Bay State Park is only minutes away from the heart of downtown Homer.
Unfortunately because of various past abuses I have to institute new terms to our Pet policies
Do not just show up with an undocumented dog as you will probably be turned away. As you may be aware there is a new canine influenza rampant in the lower 48 that may soon appear in Alaska. This new flu is generally not treatable at this time and does not respond well to antibiotics. Your dog or any dog is pretty much on its own and has to rely on a robust immune system to defeat this influenza. This is a good time of year to leave your dog home with loved ones. In any case no dogs will be admitted without a rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine and the Bordetella vaccine. If you have any further questions, call ahead.
Please blaze up outside. Most importantly, please be respectful and courteous to all guests. Please know that we don't judge!
You are rooming on the edge of the wilderness. We share our land with moose, bears, coyotes, and more. Be respectful; enjoy the encounter but give these animals their space.
Please do not wear your outdoor shoes in the house. Exceptions can be made for orthopedic issues.
If you would like to smoke, please take it outside.
No useless complaining you're on vacation.
Cancellations are accepted 14 days prior to the date of the reservation for a full refund less a $20 administration fee. Cancellations made within 14 days of your arrival will be charged the full amount of your reservation unless I can rebook the room. Early departure or no shows are charged the full amount of the original booking. The Inn is not responsible for illness, work conflicts, or inclement weather.
By booking with Good Karma Inn, you release us from any unforseen accident that may happen while you are on our property: results from accidents; slipping, falling, tripping; self-injury; injury by local wildlife; fender benders with other guests; acts of God; natural disasters; etc. We are not responsible for any pet interactions.
The photos you see all indicate king beds in the Inn. These beds are custom-made to break down into twins as needed in any room. We can also accomodate a third adult in any room with a $25 surcharge ($20 for a child under 12). We can also house a family if children are willing to sleep on mats. Please call me directly to discuss your individual needs.
Born in New Hampshire in 1949 to a carpenter/cabinet maker, I began working with wood at five years old. Beginning as a laborer at age 12, my whole life has been about the construction trades. I moved to Alaska permanently in 1994, and although I longed to live near Kachemak Bay, I had to work in Anchorage for several years before realizing my Alaskan dream.
Beginning construction of the Good Karma Inn in 1997 and completing it in the spring of 2002, I opened the doors to a new career as an innkeeper. The 2022 season will mark my 20th year in the B&B business. Of utmost importance to me is my ability to live and work here in the majestic setting of Kachemak Bay, the Kenai mountains, five glaciers, and to share it with our visitors. Presently, I don't feel that I own this land as much as I feel that I now instead belong to this land. Please visit and see what I mean.
